Eric S. Raymond has launched his No Secrets site. The goal is to nullify Unix trade secrets. To quote part of the site:
I want to know if you have ever had read access to proprietary Unix source code (not just binaries and documentation) under circumstances where either no non-disclosure agreement was required or whatever non-disclosure agreement you had was not enforced.
This is one of my points from yesterday; motivating the entire community to address a perceived wrong. I have no doubt this effort will be successful. And when it is, the legal weapon SCO thought they were wielding will be stripped from them.
And for anyone interested in the open source culture, I recommend reading The Cathedral and the Bazaar by Eric S. Raymond. It is also worth reading Homesteading the Noosphere as well as The Magic Cauldron, also by Eric S. Raymond. Or buy the book.
