Others' deaths before his taxes
At a February 28, 2001 speech in Omaha, Nebraska, Bush said the following:
Those of us who have spent some time in the agricultural sector and in the heartland understand how unfair the death penalty is—the death tax is, and we need to get rid of it—I don't want to get rid of the death penalty, just the death tax.
The crowd laughed at his misstatement, perhaps because they knew how much he enjoys taking people's lives?
