Apple sure seems to have piqued a lot of people's interest with Safari. This article is pretty good, although CNET always seems to write about Apple with a negative spin.
I think the writer missed jwz's point, though. He isn't criticizing Apple, he's wallowing in the suckiness of Gecko's code base.
Gecko is a great renderer because it strives to adhere to standards and is open source software. KHTML is a great renderer for exactly the same reasons. But really good coders are never happy with how things get implemented; there is always a better way to implement an algorithm.
I think it is very cool that there's a lot of attention being drawn to both of these open source efforts. This should really help educate people about the value of open source software.
