Chocolate coke was something one used to be able to get at a soda fountain. If you're diligent you might find some version of this at a retro 1950s diner. Along with lemon coke, vanilla coke and cherry coke (and sometimes lime coke) these were the common flavored cokes. All very good, and always a special treat. The Coca-Cola Company has, over the years, introduced Cherry, Vanilla and Diet Lemon Coke (where's the regular lemon?).
I never expected to see chocolate coke introduced as a product, but then I stumbled across the Flavor Rage chocolate additive from Coca-Cola. It seems I'm in a test market for it. The actual in-store product comes as chocolate packets and cherry packets. The promotional material encourages chocolate for Coke and cherry for Sprite and Diet Coke. The chocolate is not a chocolate syrup, but more like an extract. It mixes very well considering you can't really shake up the soda for mixing. I find myself strangely obsessed by it, but perhaps that's due to the novelty and scarcity of it. I'll enjoy the chocolate coke for however long it lasts.
I did stumble across an area of weird products on the Coca-Cola site. I am particularly intrigued by Sprite on Fire and Qoo Sports Drink for kids.
